"RIGA - ESCAPISM"

RIGA is an audio-visual project started in 2003, consisting of Martino Nencioni, Riccardo, Pietroboni and Jacopo Barbaccia, musicians and acoustic designers with years of  commitment and devotion to the creation of sounds through unusual techniques.
In 2009 RIGA won best audio-visual project in the Electro-wave Challenge.
Their work takes form by using various field recording techniques, combined with the programming of digital audio sources. The result is a modern concept of spatial acoustics, based on the formal re-combination of sound, ambient and synthetic elements.
Through their typical language characterized by complex elaborations, close-ups, out of focus and distorted sounds and images, RIGA tries to describe and make appear those imaginary places and worlds that spring to mind, those that man tries to elaborate in order to hide from true reality. Escapism is an extreme form of estrangement and removal from a world in which ones feels awkward and ill-at-ease; it’s a getaway where one can create an imaginary reality, setting new rules of consciousness.
