A workshop focusing on contemporary and vintage equipment, analyzing their sonic behavior and the rules that manage the sound. About how analogical synthesizers work, their operative set-up (sound and control sources, signal and control modifiers) and how they can be used and manipulated in order to satisfy the demands of compositions and performances. It will not only be about the technical aspects, but also the reasons behind their functions and the results from their musical involvement.
Topics: Physical acoustic basics. The history of the synthesizer. The oscillator: VCO, the filter: VCF, the amplifier: VCA. The synthesizer set-up: audio and control. Timbre modular: envelope generators EG and LFO. Synthesizers on show: unit 44 modular synthesizer, MS20, minimoog voyager, Nord Modular G2, Reaktor.
Lecturer: Alessandro Magri, graduated at the Conservatory in Pianoforte and having studied classic and modern composition. For many years he has been an active producer, arranger and a session man. He has collaborated with Pavarotti, V. Rossi, B. Antonacci, the 2006 Turin Olympics, and many others. He was the first in Europe to have achieved the prestigious Apple USA qualifications; “Apple Certified Master Trainer", "Apple Certified Logic Master Pro", "Apple Distinguished Professional”. He is still steadily working with Apple Italia today.
